I need a generator to power small electronic devices while I am camping thats runs off D size batteries?
Does anyone know a company thats sells theese?
Depending on what you're powering and how long you expect it to run, you might try connecting a small inverter that is intended for use with a automotive cigarette lighter outlet to 8 D sized batteries wired in series. The first link below is for one that is only rated at 5 watts (which might be all you need). Much more capable devices cost slightly more but your limitation then becomes the amount of current your batteries can provide. (Second link.)
Taking it one step further, you can buy a similar inverter that is already packaged with a rechargeable battery and charger. (Third link.)
All links provided are examples only and you may be able to find better deals on your own.
If there is parking for your car at or near your campsite a car powered inverter may be all you need. I have one inverter that can be used with either the lighter outlet or connected directly to the battery. If parked close enough, I'll use a CFL bulb (either white or "buglight" yellow) and a 100' extension cord rather than a propane fueled lantern.
