Steve Lawrence-Hill (Woodturner)

Member of the Association of woodturners of Great Britain

Born in Guildford Surrey in june 1963 to John and Jill Hill.

My Father was a well respected artist brush maker and a member of the Guild of Master craftsmen.

My mother was a devoted Housewife and mother to me and my two brothers, Les and Brian.

I Spent 25 years as a lorry driver first of all for the Army then for Various company's around the UK. Driving has always been a passion of mine and as we all say i am very good at it. I'm also a biker who has owned a fair few bikes in the past with my most recent being a Yamaha 1200 VMax and a Kawasaki VN1500.

During my time as a lorry driver i messed around with wood as a hobby making small items of furniture, Shelves and small Jewelry boxes etc. I always found i had an affinity with wood and even years ago i knew that one day i would be doing some thing with this wonderful medium.

Valewoodturner is all about woodturning and my life as a woodturner.

I started to learn all about woodturning in may 2008 so i am very new to this whole experience.

It catalog's and shows you my life as i gain experience in my chosen field of woodturning and tells you the story so far with up to date pictures as i make each item.

I must stress that at this time woodturning is my hobby and is not at this time a registered business although i do accept commissions on a strictly private basis.

I have been Commissioned By People all over the country now to make flesh plugs and tunnels out of mainly British woods in a variety of styles, I believe i am the first and only wood turner in Britain to make these specialized jewelery items.

Specializing in one off custom made items of any description.

If there is anything you need making that is round and made of wood  just use my contact form and i will see what i can do for you.
